Espana Extravaganza - Part 1 - Gibraltar

The first stop of our Espana Extravaganza was Gibraltar. I found out from this trip that Gibraltar is actually a British overseas territory and not part of Spain!!

Ooopsss... that just show how bad my geography is! bleh...

Well... the most famous thing in Gibraltar is the "Rock of Gibraltar", which is visible from any point in Gibraltar (er... well... not that it's a really huge city anyway...)

So, there you go... it does look quite magnificent and supposedly, throughout history the rock was invincible... despite long sieges it seemed that there was nothing that could destroy the rock!

And oh yeah... the city is so small that it doesn't have enough space for the airport runways... when there are landings or takeoffs, the roads are closed to vehicles to make way for the planes!!! Now that's what you call efficient use of land!!

Anyway, since none of us were interested in visiting the caves (or to see the monkeys there...) we walked over to La Linea (literally translated as The Line) across the Spain borders...

We just wondered around the area until it was time to take our bus to our next destination...

We had some difficulties though, in finding out how to take the bus as many locals in the area do not speak English... we ended up missing the bus because we didn't realise that the bus stopped at the next platform to the one that we were told to wait at!

Anyway... finally... we managed to board the right bus after many sessions of frustrated conversations (somehow, when you don't understand them, they just try to speak LOUDER and SLOWER... thinking that you'll eventually understand them.. what???)

Just a random picture of the scenery on the journey to our next stop - SEVILLA!!
