The many faces of...

TIRAMISU!!!

Inspired by Mr Yeo's pretty birthday cake, I made several different forms of tiramisu to reignite whatever arty cells that I still have... (well... you never associate creativity with an actuary...)

And oh... by the way... I just found out that in Italian, "tirami su" means "pick me up" or translated figuratively as "make me happier"...

No wonder I felt a lot happier after making (and of course pigging and eating) them! :P

Girls night out

WFTP

Working From The Pub.

Yes, that's what my colleagues and I did on Monday when the power supply was cut off from our office buildings!

Apparently, over the weekend, somehow the workmen from the construction of our new building nearby has managed to burst the main water pipe and flooded the area... the electricity cables were also affected and power supply to the area was cut off... (suspiciously, the building nearby which was affected most was none other than our dear competitor, which ended up with a basement full of dirty murky water! Oooopps...)

When we came in on Monday morning, the building was running on the backup generators but around lunchtime, the power supply was completely cut off as we have overworked the backup generators.

So.... there we were... without any electricity, water, network and telephone services... erm... how can you possibly run a business without all these essential supplies??? At one point, we were all sitting around staring at each other as the battery from our laptops went off one by one!!

In the end, we all decided to go down to the pub and (worked) there for the rest of the day... it was probably the best ever Monday for me! I usually hate Mondays but given that it was such an eventful day with the opportunity to work at the pub, it beats the Monday blues out of me! Hehehehe... :P

And the icing of the cake? We were all asked to work from home the next day while they try to fix the problem... I love working from home as it means that I get extra sleep time and I can work in my pyjamas the whole day :)

Mr Yeo's Birthday Bash

It was Mr Yeo's birthday last week and we celebrated it with two other April babies - Elsie and Flora... The whole troop arrived at the Sherlock Holmes Bar and Grill for the celebration to "surprise" the birthday babies... but apparently... only Elsie was actually surprised as Mr Yeo even went and collect his own birthday cake... hahahaha...

Anyway... lots of people turned up for the bash...

Rui, Nav, me, Drakey, Karen, and Kai Yen

Vera, Victoria and Elsie

Flora, Xiao Yin, Heng Liong, Debbie, Shulin, Ken, Peter, Ling Ling and Tao Lei

And of course, Mr Yeo and Bin Bin!

The food was pretty good... and with the Top Table 50% discount, it was definitely value for money... and I must say that the service was up to standards... Mind you, it's not easy to serve a group of 20+ (and especially when they are noisy (and cheapskate) Asians who like to share their food :P)

And ooooh... I love the birthday cake that we got for them... it looked so so so pretty!! And it made me had the urge to bake and decorate one on my own!!!

Aaaaawww... isn't it pretty???

That said, the cake was only pretty... I didn't really like the taste of it... (as the banana taste was really strong... bleh... I hate bananas...)

Oh well.... back to the birthday celebration...

May your birthday wishes come true! :)

And of course, the family portrait...

Happy Birthday Mr Yeo... It's my pleasure to have you as a friend... it may be by chance that we met each other, but I will always treasure this friendship!

Hope you like your birthday pressie! (And please don't sell it on ebay ok?????)

Then, everyone... guys and girls will get together to play either table tennis and/or basketball...

Presenting to you.... the Canada Water Sports Team!!!!

Hey... we don't just sit around, drink and play poker okay???

Pamper me, please!

After working really hard for the last few months, felt that it's time to reward myself and indulge in a little pampering!

So, Sook Leen and I booked ourselves a spa weekend break over the Easter bank holidays at Moddershall Oaks...

The word "SPA" is derived from the Latin words "AQUA PER SANA" which means health through water...

The Moddershall Oaks is located close to Stoke on Trent, right in the heart of the countryside... it has wonderful grounds with lush of greenery! The tranquility of the location was really great... and the beautiful scenery made me felt as though I was transported somewhere else... far far away from the dirt, grime and stress of the city!

We eased ourselves into the luxury retreat with a country walk around the spa grounds...

And no one does it better than Sook Leen in soaking up the refreshing air! hehehe....

In addition to the scenery, the interior of the place was also fantastic. The serenity and simplicity of the oriental design within Moddershall Oaks was relaxing and allowed us to unwind in surroundings of gracious beauty!

It brings a whole new meaning of staying in style!

Once we checked into our rooms, we changed into our complimentary robes to explore the spa...

They have a good range of spa facilities including the jacuzzi and hydrotherapy pool, reflexology foot baths, swimming pool, sauna, steam room, experience shower and heated marble loungers.

That say, I have to admit that spa that I went to last year at Pennyhill Park for my company's Away Day was larger and have a wider range of spa experience...

Nevertheless, we had a great time unwinding and rejuvenating ourselves with the facilities available!

The spa package came complete with dinner, breakfast and lunch throughout our stay. We just have to turn up and meals would be ready! It was great to have 2-course meals served while chatting and gossiping over dinner... and later while watching DVDs in our room at night, we were sipping on fragrance tea and munching on strawberries and blueberries! hehehe.... well, we tried to be healthy! :P

And of course, how can a spa break be complete without treatments? I indulged myself with a Dermalogica facial which was supposed to combine exfoliation, energising massage techniques and masque to give me noticeably firmer, smoother and revived skin wor....

Since I was in the mood to pamper myself, I also went for a french manicure... how does my pink little pretty nails look? hahaha....

I had a really good time at the spa... but I think it's addictive!! I can't wait for the next time to pamper myself again! :)
