Sardinia

Went to Sardinia during the Easter long weekend break... as usual, we started off by saying that we want to go somewhere that is nice and warm... preferably, a nice sunny beach weekend... but somehow, we always end up in being in a beach town when it's cold and rainy... sigh...

On the day that we landed... it was cold, rainy and gloomy... sounds like London... and here we are, thinking that we can escape from the grey London weather...

Nevertheless, we still did some sightseeing and walked around the historic old town of Alghero...

Most of the old town area are cobbled narrow lanes with a number of churches...

Surprise surprise... we woke up to sunny weather the next morning!!! Since it was such a pretty day, we drove to Cappo Caccia to see the Neptune's Grotto... it was a beautiful ride there with the blue skies and the sun shinning so brightly...

But much to our disappointment, the grotto was closed for renovation... what a pity as the guide who arranged for our airport transfer told us that the sea caves are really beautiful... sigh...

Guess we have to be content with taking pictures near the caves then...

The guys planning and mapping our drive... hehehe... the Christopher Columbus'... as usual, I just sleep in the car and made no contribution to navigation... hehehehe....

We decided that since Alghero is known for its beautiful beaches, we had to check them out...

And true... the beaches were really nice... kinda reminds me of the wonderful beaches that I went to in Bermuda... but don't let the pictures fool you... it may look sunny and hot, but it was way too cold and windy to really lie down on the sandy beaches or swim in the water!!!

And one of the beaches that we went to, it was so windy that they have kite surfing!!! So cool...

The following day... we went to some of the vineyards near Alghero...

The wine that they produced in this region was especially for seafood since the island is famous for its Catalan-style seafood, particularly its lobster...

They actually sold alcohol like the petrol station by the litres man!! Look at the pump... and it was dirt cheap lor... the true meaning of buying in bulk!!

The guys with their funny poses again outside another vineyard...

The actual farm where they grow grapes for the wine...

We also went to Sassari, one of the larger cities on the Sardinia island...

Well, I think from now on... we should just avoid beach towns during the Easter break... because it's never warm enough for us to enjoy the beach properly!!! I mean there is a reason why it is the off-peak season!!!
